EuroControl is using Powersim Studio 8 to model the Air Transportation System.

In this work, the air transportation system is being modeled as a complex system. One of the components of this system that is being modeled is the airport. The airport, for instance, is modeled in terms of all major aspects of the airport system, both airside (such as traffic arriving and departing) and landside (such as passenger processes).

The models being developed will be based on system dynamics, supported by a wide range of other techniques such as modeling resource availability and modeling human behaviour. One of the objectives of this work is to model the performance of the air transportation system, in terms of for instance capacity, flexibility, predictability and efficiency.

Powersim Studio 8 is the software that supports this work, conducted at EuroControl.
